<panates> Scans of the monumental 43-volume research tool that represents one of the most significant achievements in modern oracle bone studies are now available!

The compilation took a dedicated team from Tsinghua University exactly 10 years to complete. It acts as a massive comprehensive reorganization of previously published oracle bone materials, containing 70,659 unique oracle bone fragments, making it the largest collection of its kind by volume.

1) Pictures: 28 volumes containing hand-drawn copies of the inscriptions; 2) Transcriptions: 10 volumes providing modern character transcriptions; 3) Indexes: 5 volumes mapping the materials back to their original/well-known publication numbers.

All major oracle bone "rejoins" (綴合) completed up until 2020 are incorporated, and duplicate entries, modern forgeries, etc. are removed. Some things to point out (from my experience): 1) some glyphs are missing in some texts; 2) they don't show the scraped off texts written under the "new" texts; 3) transcriptions are quite old, e.g. they still use 㱿 instead of 𬆩 (common diviner's name). Of course serious researchers still must consult the original photographic plates or ink rubbings, but anyway this is a huge reference material and a great tool.
